Amanda McKee
David Schwartz

Amanda and David's love for the outdoors, animals and children, put them on a path of destiny to begin several programs that allow kids to learn about animals and nature in a fun and hands on environment encompassing fun and lots of fresh air.

Amanda, born in Alamance County, is a graduate of NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. After many years in practice she now shares her passion, educating children with the Junior Vet Academy. Having grown up in the area she has seen a dramatic loss of small farms. She and David are committed to saving them for the next generation. Together, they have planned and perfected the

1870 Farm in Chapel Hill, where over 4300 campers have attended since its inception in 2016. Together they share 7 children and 2 grandchildren.

The Perfect Farm Escape

Piper Hill

What happens when you take an absolutely beautiful farm property located in Silk Hope North Carolina, and add very friendly animals, mix it up with some rescue animals, utilize reclaimed wood dating back to the 1700's for outbuildings and even recreate a mining area that has recently unearthed artifacts and fossils? You get a bespoke outdoor experience to unwind, wander and entertain almost anyone in your family. The property is set on over 100 acres with one of the largest spring fed ponds in the area, loaded with trophy sized largemouth bass and catfish.

The owners sought to save this Chatham County property from development and this oasis is now an outdoor farm-based learning environment for children and the perfect place to reconnect with nature.

Visitor experiences at the farm include hands on time with our farm animals, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, hayrides, hiking, mining for gems, treasure hunting at the creek and so much more!

Our large open spaces, open air barn and beautifully decorated

barn house and pond cottage will make your retreat,

wedding, corporate gathering or any special event all the more beautiful.

For the kids, we offer birthday party packages,

overnight glamping retreats and day camps.

Our glamping and overnight stays offer a serene, relaxing environment to break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Seasonal events such as our Chili Cook Off, Easter Egg Hunt,

and Oktoberfest will bring families from all over the Triangle together for some good old fashioned farm fun!

Warmest Wishes,

Your Piper Hill Family

Event and Program Coordinator
Lynn Scott

Lynn was born in Ohio, moved to South Florida when she was 17, then came to North Carolina in 2000 and this has been home ever since. The early part of her career was spent in the corporate world working for two large companies managing sponsorships and events. Leaving that career behind to spend more time with family, but still longing to plan and organize events while utilizing her creativity, she and her daughter started a successful wedding planning business serving couples from all over the Triangle.

After 10 years of successfully planning close to 500 weddings, they decided to end that chapter in their lives. As the Event and Program Coordinator at

Piper Hill Farm, Lynn is able to use all of her skills, connections in the event industry and her love and desire to make people happy.

What a perfect fit for us here at the farm!
